I’ve been a Halo fan ever since playing a beta demo of the game fifteen years ago, and playing it with friends when it was released on the original Xbox. It’s good to see the franchise is still just as popular as ever with no signs of slowing down. To accommodate the latest entry, Halo 5: Guardians, Insight Editions has released another of their well-crafted art books titled (you guessed it!) The Art of Halo 5: Guardians. Both fans of the game series and art book lovers will find lovely illustrations as well as text that’s exciting and informative in this perfect coffee table piece.
Nicolas Bouvier, aka Sparth, who is behind the amazing artwork of Halo 5, gives a foreword followed by an introduction by Frank O’Connor, franchise development director at 343 Industries. Readers will then enter the high quality, 208 glossy pages of this beautifully illustrated book featuring concept art that cover the Master Chief, Agent Jameson Locke, as well as the different worlds, vehicles, and other characters from Halo 5: Guardians. Of course these amazing pictures are accompanied by awesome commentary from various 343 Industries team members that go into detail on how the designs for all of these things came to be and what inspired them.
As with all the Insight Editions books I’ve read, I enjoy how the images and text come together perfectly, making for a fun read that’s hard to put down. The only bad thing about this book is also the best thing about it, it’s so informative and goes into everything about Halo 5, that it will spoil the game for anyone who hasn’t played/beaten it yet. Of course most should already know this going in, and will read this long after making their way through the campaign. Also as a bonus treat, the book comes with a redeemable Basic REQ Pack code that’s sure to come in handy for those who play.
Insight Editions releases yet another masterpiece with The Art of Halo 5: Guardians, as this hefty, 208-page monster is filled with amazing artwork, informative and fun text, and a bonus REQ Pack code. All of these things come together to make one of the best books you’ll find out there, and will pull fans and those who enjoy art books deep into the world of the Master Chief.
