When I first reviewed Turtle Beach’s Recon wired controller back in 2021, I immediately fell in love it as it felt just right in my hands which are fairly large, and all of the sweet bells and whistles it featured just made it even better.
Leave it to them to design another controller even better with the Turtle Beach React-R Wired Controller last year that streamlined the Recon while still being a joy to use. Now Turtle Beach has released three new colors for the React-R, Red, Nebula, and Pixel Green to make this cool controller even more to use.
I asked for the Nebula color as it features a really cool color scheme that I love to look at, though it was a tough choice between Nebula and the Pixel Green color. Besides the awesome color difference, these controllers have all the exact cool features from the standard React-R model you can read all about in the 2022 review of it.
From the welcomed eight foot cord to give you more than enough space from your console, to the always helpful Superhuman Hearing audio setting, to the ergonomic textured handle surfaces and two mappable quick-action buttons on the backside, this is easily one of the best Xbox controllers I’ve used.
It’s also officially licensed for use on the Xbox, which is a plus considering Microsoft is starting to block unauthorized controllers and peripherals from the Xbox Series X and S consoles. I had a blast using this to play some of my favorite games such as Diablo IV, the recent remaster of Quake 2, and others where the mappable buttons and superhuman hearing came in handy for sure.
If you’re looking for a solid controller for your Xbox console or even your Windows PC, you can’t go wrong with the Turtle Beach React-R Wired Controller. It was already a great controller before with all of the neat features it has, but these new colors just make it more fun to use and hard to put down.
