As a kid in the early 80s, I was exposed to video games both at home and in numerous arcades that were then all over the place. Of course one of the biggest and best games back then was Pac-Man which was taking the world by storm, and the next step for the franchise to take was the soon to be hit, Ms. Pac-Man, which also took everyone’s quarters in the arcade and time at home. Now those who enjoy old school games such as this can take the famed classic and two other titles on the go with the My Arcade Ms. Pac-Man Pocket Player that packs arcade fun into a portable package for all to enjoy.

As with the Bubble Bobble Pocket Player, this one includes three games you can play, Ms. Pac-Man were you navigate the famous heroine through mazes and avoid ghosts until you eat a power pellet that lets you eat them, Sky Kid where you pilot a World War I type plane and fight off enemies, and the Namco classic Mappy where you play the famed mouse cop and have to out run and out wit cat criminals and recover stolen loot.

No matter which game you play, you’ll have a good time figuring out the best ways to overcome these classic challenges and make your way to the next level. The 2.75″ full color backlit display makes sure you’re able to see all of the frantic action unfold, and thankfully My Arcade made this pocket player pretty solid as the circle D-Pad, two face buttons, and Start and Reset buttons hold up pretty well no matter how intense the gameplay gets.

On the player there’s a mono speaker with adjustable volume, but you’ll want to grab a pair of earphones and make use of the provided 3.5mm headphone jack. I really like how you can either use four AAA batteries to power the pocket player or use a micro USB cable (like I did) to use it without batteries. The battery covers on each side on the back of the device also serve as handy ergonomic grips that make holding the pocket player a joy, and there’s an added wrist strap to make sure you won’t lose the device in your travels.

If you’re looking for some classic gaming to take on the go with you, the My Arcade Ms. Pac-Man Pocket Player is a pretty cool way to do so. Fun games coupled with a cool looking and joy to hold device make for a nice combination of retro gaming that’s sure to be a conversation starter when you’re out and about saving the video game world from ghosts, cats, and old airplanes.
