Ever since one of my cousins showed me her Ring doorbell where you could always see what’s in front of her place, I’ve always wanted to grab a doorbell camera for myself. Thanks to our friends at Reolink, I was given the opportunity to check out the Reolink Battery Doorbell. It has a great camera with nice features to make sure your family and packages are covered.
After setting up the Reolink app on my iPhone and connecting it to the doorbell which supports 2.4 and 5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi, I was quickly loving the 2K high-definition camera with a nice 1:1 aspect ratio that gives 150° Horizontal, 150° Vertical, and 180° viewing angles that ensures you see everything that’s outside your door.
Seeing that I tend to order from Amazon frequently and also receive packages of items to review (like this doorbell), this device is a life changer. I love being able to finally see those ninja-like delivery workers that swoop in, drop off something, and then leave without knocking. It’s also hard to see when I get a package and it’s tucked away to the left corner of my door as it’s a blind spot from the peephole in the door and from my bedroom window.
Another awesome feature I love on this camera is that it has night vision on it that activates when the sensor on it detects it’s getting darker. Here the image goes from crisp color to a black and white-like mode that shows every little detail in the dark, so you’ll know if there’s a creep outside your door or just someone’s pet or forest animal going past your place.
The app also allows you to adjust how sensitive the camera is to being activated and snapping video and pictures, that way every little thing that comes in front it doesn’t set it off. You’re also able to set it to identify differences between people, packages and vehicles so it’ll let you know messages such as “package detected” on your app when it arrives.
The doorbell also supports microSD cards up to 256GB to save any pictures and videos you capture on it, just in case there’s a power outage or the battery dies. Speaking of which, while this features a 7,000mAh rechargeable battery that can last for nearly five months, you can also hardwire it to your home if desired.
I’m also a fan of the two-way audio this device offers, as you can choose to speak directly with someone through the app and doorbell, or choose from pre-selected replies such as “Please leave the package at the door.” and more to either greet people or deter intruders and porch pirates. There’s also different accessories you can use to expand your options, such as Reolink’s Chime to place in any room or rooms in your home to make sure you hear the doorbell, the Reolink Home Hub, and even connect it to Alexa Echo Show or Google Assistant.
If you’re looking for a great electronic doorbell security camera and don’t want to go with a wired one or a service where you pay a subscription to use, you can’t go wrong with the Reolink Battery Doorbell. It has everything you need to get started within minutes right out of the box, and has all the neat security bells and whistles you could want and then some to keep you and your property safe.
