Ever since picking up my nice-sized 40 liter backpack from REI some years ago, I’ve always had a tough time finding another one to match up to it. Thankfully it found me instead thanks to our friends at Mobile Edge with their Mobile Edge Alienware Area 51 Elite Backpack. Those looking for the perfect pack to carry their laptop, accessories, and more will want to get lost in the space of this backpack.
Coming in at 14″ wide, 21″ high, and 9″ of depth while weighing in at nearly 4lbs, I was thrilled to get this special edition backpack as it’s only been made in limited quantities, and I’m willing to bet because it’s hard to mass produce near perfection. The 40 liters of space is more than enough to fit any size laptop, including some of the monster-sized gaming ones out there.
There’s three compartments, with the first being the perfect size for your laptop thanks to being soft-lined and having a nice size pocket. There’s also a handy and neat padded bumper you can move and place with velcro on it to make sure your rig is extra secure and protected against bangs and bumps. I also love how this section and the next have a nice silver interior lining that helps reflect light in the pack so you can see exactly what you have inside.
The next compartment is my favorite and what I like to call the main section of a backpack, which is the nice and roomy part where you can place and carry all sorts of goodies in it. Whether its gaming/PC accessories, clothes, or some light shopping from anywhere, this is the section you’ll be using the most. There’s also a nice inner pocket for any smaller stuff you want to place in there and have quick access to.
The last section on the outer part of the backpack is a smaller but nice-sized space that’s perfect for a headset/headphones, or any other similar sized items you have that also gives you quick access to them. Speaking of which, there’s some handy small pockets on the top and bottom of the pack that’s perfect for small items you need at the ready such as sunglasses, a spare t-shirt, cell phone, keys, etc.
Then there’s tons of other pockets with pockets to spare inside and outside of the pack, such as the handy water bottle pocket that can also double as an umbrella holder that has a zippered pocket behind it where you can place pens and other small items in it, along with another zippered pocket on the other side for the same purpose.
Of course we have to talk about comfort as no backpack is complete without it. It features contoured XPE foam shoulder straps along with an always welcomed sternum strap to help even out the weight and keep you comfy while wearing it. An integrated top handle makes picking the pack up super easy, and the back features a ventilated and cushioned panel to keep your back cool with an integrated trolley strap for conveniently placing the pack on top of your luggage handle when traveling.
There’s also some cool features such as the reflective alien head logo on the pack, on one of the shoulder straps, and the number 40 on one of the side pockets to make sure you’re seen in low-light/night conditions. Whatever you need a solid, feature heavy backpack for, you can rest assure the Mobile Edge Alienware Area 51 Elite Backpack has you covered. It looks and feels great, has plenty of room for all of your needs and more, and comes loaded with neat bells and whistles that are truly out of this world.
