Just about anyone with a Nintendo Switch will tell you how much they love the system, but the dock could use some work. Actually, it could use a lot of work. There have been multiple dock replacement solutions out there for sure, but the sweetest one I’ve come across yet is the HyperDrive 60W USB-C Power Hub for Nintendo Switch.
Not only does it replace the dock for charging and viewing on a big screen, but also allows you to do the same for any USB-C device while also charging two others for one of the best power hubs you can get.
The first thing I noticed when I received this hub for review was how solid and hefty it is, and rightfully so considering how much power it’s handling and packing. It features two USB-C ports, one of which is 45W that can also transfer 10Gbps of data, the other a 18W port for charging only.
Then there’s a USB-A/3.1 port that can charge at 7.5W and allow you to connect data drives and peripherals to USB-C devices while being capable of transferring data at 5Gbs. You can use these ports simultaneously for a total of 60W of power for your devices. That’s a lot of inter-connectivity for such a little box.
Lastly, there’s the HDMI output port that’s able to display up to 4K 60Hz HDR video from any device connected to the 45W port. So not only can you use this hub for your Switch, but also any USB-C device such as Apple’s latest MacBook and iPad lineup, as well as USB-C laptops and tablets to name a few. As USB-C inches closer and closer to becoming the standard we all hope it’ll become this hub will only become even more useful than it already is.
I have to admit it was pretty awesome being able to connect the latest iPad on my 4K TV, and those who swap between multiple devices and/or need them connected will wonder how they got by before using this handy product (myself included).
If you have a Nintendo Switch and/or any other USB-C devices that you swap between regularly, making the $99.99 investment to pick up the HyperDrive 60W USB-C Power Hub for Nintendo Switch is worth it. It can power and display your devices at the same time, and it even includes a USB-C to USB-C cable to help send your multi-charging into over (hyper) drive.
