Turtle Beach is widely known for their gaming headsets, and chances are you’ve seen a few of them featured on the site. Along with the updated Stealth 500 and Stealth 600, their flagship headset is the Turtle Beach Atlas Air Wireless Gaming Headset that’s a great sounding, highly versatile device that has all the features you need to keep your head and ears in the game.
As soon as you place these on your head, you’re treated right away to Turtle Beach’s floating, memory foam ear cushions that feature their famous ProSpecs glasses relief to keep gamers like myself with glasses cool and comfortable at all times. There’s also an adjustable floating headband that instantly conforms to your head, and with the headset only weighing 301 grams, most times it feels like it’s not even there.
Another reason you’ll forget it’s there is thanks to the open back design that allows you to hear everything around you while still keeping you immersed in the game with it’s powerful and bass-filled 40mm drivers. When connected to a PC using Waves 3D audio, they’re able to pump out high-fidelity, 24-bit audio in the 20Hz to 40kHz frequency range for amazing sound that’ll have you ducking for cover when playing action and shooter games.
The removable, flip-to-mute microphone is pretty great too as it features 16-bit, 32kHz sampling for crystal clear communications with your friends and teammates. I like how it’s an unidirectional one as well to make sure it’s only picking your voice up, and the included windscreen helps to tune out unwanted background noise and can be further tweaked in the Swarm II app.
There’s also other various settings you can play with using the app such as Turtle Beach’s Superhuman hearing mode with three different levels, multiple EQ presets, mic monitoring, and more. You’ll also be glad to know that the battery lasts up 50 hours give or take, and features a quick charge option where you can get another eight hours or so with just a fifteen minute charge.
If you’re someone that uses a lot of different devices, you’ll be glad to know the Atlas Air is pretty versatile as it can be used wirelessly with PC, PS5, PS4, and the Nintendo Switch via 2.4Ghz wireless with the included USB dongle or good old fashioned Bluetooth, while Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One users will have to go wired with the included 3.5mm cable.
There’s also a nifty option available for those who like to customize their headsets and stand out from the default color, as the Atlas Air has mod packs that feature additional headband straps and ear cushions in Pink, Purple, or Blue colors for around $25.
The Turtle Beach Atlas Air Wireless Gaming Headset is a solid choice for those looking for a comfortable wireless headset that’s also highly versatile thanks to its compatibility with PC, gaming consoles and mobile devices that’s sure to keep your ears pleased and on alert as you dominate your games.
