While I do love a solid microphone setup, I have to admit I don’t have a lot of experience using wireless systems. Thankfully Saramonic has made it easy not only for myself, but for anyone looking for a great wireless setup with the Saramonic Blink500 B2+ Wireless Microphone System that can handle just about any recording job you can throw at it.
Inside this small but powerful kit there’s two mics/transmitters, the receiver, a USB-C adapter, a Lightning adapter, and the case that houses everything as well as charges the mics when not in use. There’s also a 3.5mm TRS to TRS cable, a 3.5mm TRS to TRRS cable, two clip-on windscreen filters and a USB-A to USB-C Cable to make sure you’ve covered no matter what kind of devices you’re using to record.
Saramonic makes it super easy to get started on any of your devices, as you just attach either the USB-C or Lightning adapter depending on the device or phone you’re using, or use the TRS to TRS cable if you’re using a DSLR Camera, power on the receiver with a handy OLED info display and the transmitters, and you’re good to go. I was impressed with the sound quality the Blink500 B2+ has, as my voice as well as any vocals I test recorded came in perfect clean and clear.
I’m sure it helps that these mics feature a 2.4GHz wireless system that can go up to 150 meters away from the receiver. They also have a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range, as well as the standard 48K/24-bit sampling rate to deliver crisp, solid audio for any recording session. You can also monitor your audio feed in real time which is a must for detecting anything wrong in the audio before you actually record.
I also really love how the included windscreen filters snap onto the mics to perfectly tune out any wind noise when recording outside, and if that’s not enough, the mics also feature a noise reduction modes to further tune out noisy environments. They also have stereo, mono, and safety track modes, each mode having their own LED light color to make sure your recordings come out exactly how you want them to.
Another nice feature this mic setup has is being able to connect to two devices at the same time, which is great for podcasts and content creators that want to record themselves but also have access to external audio or video clips they wish to include, or possible use a second device as a safety backup.
The battery for this system is pretty good too, as the mics can go up to 16 hours on a charge depending on the settings you’re using, and the receiver can last for roughly 20 hours. Then you factor in the charging case that can charge the mics and receiver nearly twice, and that the mics can be charged with a USB-C cable separately if needed, and you got a winner of a portable setup.
For $129, you really can’t go wrong with the Saramonic Blink500 B2+ Wireless Microphone System if you’re looking for a solid and versatile wireless recording setup. Powerful mics with some nifty bells and whistles, and a receiver that can connect to just about anything with the included adapters and cables make this the affordable wireless recording system to beat.
