For the longest time I’ve always wanted to see what the whole Air Fryer/Cooker craze was about, but could never get around to finding the right one. Who knew that it would come to me with the Dreo ChefMaker Combi Fryer. I’ve been using it for the past two months and I can say without a doubt that it’s the best kitchen appliance I’ve ever used for cooking, and if you decide to get one for yourself, I’m sure you’ll agree.
When you open the box, you’ll find the well-built Dreo ChefMaker Combi Fryer that has a tough plastic outside with some light metal for some of the parts, a grilling rack for big pieces of fish, beef, chicken, etc., a cooking tray that you’ll most likely find yourself using most of the time like I did, and a handy temperature probe for making sure your food is the desired and safe temperature to eat.
What separates this device from all the other air cookers out there is that it’s clear Dreo went above and beyond when creating the ChefMaker, as they spent two years of research and development studying how master chefs cook their food while also combining the knowledge of food scientists and some advanced AI algorithms (what doesn’t use those nowadays?) to craft the near-perfect cooking machine.
It also doesn’t hurt that they made nearly two million dollars on their Kickstarter campaign against a ten thousand dollar goal to use in making it be the best. I’m happy to say they’ve succeeded as now for the first time in my life, there’s a device that takes all the guesswork out of cooking and makes it simple, easy, and even dare say, fun to cook. When you first turn the ChefMaker on, you’re greeted with it’s main menu on a nice and colorful touchscreen display where you can cycle through all of the awesome options to cook whatever you want.
First there’s Chef Mode that makes use of the temperature probe and/or the water reservoir on top of the machine if needed (don’t worry, it’ll let you know what it needs before you start cooking) to make cooking as easy as possible. For example, if you wanted to cook some thick beef patties, you just highlight the beef patty option, and it’ll tell you to insert the probe into the middle of one of the patties, then you select how done you want them to be and hit start. Next thing you know, ten to thirty minutes later you have perfectly cooked burgers without having to constantly check on them.
Or say you want to cook a big piece of chicken or salmon. You just the do the exact same thing, find it in the nice sized list of foods the device has stored in it (with more to come I’m sure), and it’ll tell you to insert the probe and possibly fill the water reservoir as to spray the food as it cooks, and a little time later you have a perfectly cooked piece of meat.
I love how the water spray works, as it uses a water mist on the food’s surface to ensure even cooking and prevent charring. Even better is that any excess moisture is removed during the final stages of cooking so your food isn’t overly moist or too dry and is just right. I’m telling you, it’s the closest thing I’ve seen to magic or having a personal chef in a device I’ve ever witnessed.
If you’re feeling confident in your cooking abilities, there’s also a Classic Cook mode that allows you to use the cooker without any instructions and use modes such as air fry, defrost, reheat, broiling, roasting, toasting, baking, and dehydrating. I use this mode the most as I’ve played around with the ChefMaker so much that I’m pretty good at guesstimating how long it takes to cook certain items on various temperatures and they turn out delicious every time.
There’s also a Probe Cook mode for when you want to make sure the food temp is just right for whatever you’re cooking, and if all of this wasn’t enough, you can also download the Dreo app and connect it to the ChefMaker via WiFi. You can also cycle through dozens of recipes on the app with step-by-step instructions on how to prep your food, what ingredients you need, and such, then when you’re ready to cook you can send it over to the device where it’ll cook it to your liking.
Add in being able to easily clean everything (the cooking tray and grilling rack are dishwasher safe), and you really do have the perfect cooking device with the Dreo ChefMaker Combi Fryer. I could go on all day about how amazing it is and how it’s changed my life for the better (which it really has), but you owe it to yourself to pick one up when it releases in mid-August. Trust me, once you cook with the ChefMaker, you’ll wonder how you cooked before without it.
