The Force is strong with this episode of the Popzara Podcast as Jedi Master Ethan Brehm and Sith Lord Nathan Evans attempt to bring balance to the Force by discussing (and spoiling) the ninth and supposed “final” chapter of the 42-year old Skywalker Saga in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the conclusion to Disney’s trilogy of episodic adventures that began with 2015’s The Force Awakens, now playing in theaters across the galaxy (and probably right down the street).

Reactions to the J.J. Abrams’ directed film have been sharply divided, even among your Popzara Pals, but that doesn’t stop our heroes from having a forceful conversation about what worked, what didn’t, and how they feel Rise of Skywalker sits with the rest of the Original, Prequel, and more recent Sequel trilogies of Star Wars films.

How does Skywalker fare next to its controversial predecessor, 2017’s The Last Jedi? Does the return of Emperor Palpatine, last seen being famously hurled to his death (?) in a giant explosion of Force power in 1983’s Return of the Jedi, feel like exciting or lazy screenwriting? Do Luke and Leia symbolize the real binary suns? Who wins the cuteness trophy: Babu Frik or Baby Yoda? Could Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) possibly be any cooler?

Warning: there be spoilers throughout as our hosts reveal all for your listening pleasure, meaning it’s probably wise to see the film first before hitting the play button. Only a Sith deals in absolutes – and trolls the fans.
