Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been about helping others. So when I see TV shows, movies, anime, and such that focus on selfless, helpful people, I can’t help but love it. So it goes without saying that I really enjoyed Sentai’s release of Yuki Yuna is a Hero: Complete Collection, since it combines selfless heroes and magical girl anime into a good time for anyone that gives it a chance.
via YouTubeHere we enter the lives of our young heroines, Yuki, Mimori Togo, Fu, and Itsuki who go around being real life heroes helping anyone in need. They take their selflessness even further by making a “Hero Club” where people can seek them out for help. It doesn’t take long for their good deeds to catch up with them in the form of a divine tree called Shinju that gives them super powers and outfits to fight off evil beings called the Vertexes
Now these young ladies will have to master their new abilities to stay ahead of the enemy and hopefully defeat them before they and the world falls to chaos, all while making their way through everyday life and school. No pressure, right? That’s what pulled me into this series as every episode shows off these lovely heroines and their struggles both through everyday stuff and fighting off supernatural enemies while clinging to each other for support.
Putting all of these things together and making them work is also handled really well, hence why it lasted for three seasons with bonus episodes. This serves not only to draw viewers in, but will keep them there until the ultimate conclusion. It also looks and sounds great in high-definition as though the action could come off your screen, and there’s some cool special features to boot.
There’s clean opening and closing scenes, along with all twelve short “Churutto” episodes that give viewers more bonus adventures to check out. So if you enjoy magical girl anime with some friendship and slice of life goodness mixed in, go ahead and be a hero with Yuki Yuna is a Hero: Complete Collection.
