Hot on the trail on the previous DVD release that kicked off our half-shelled heroes’ third season, the follow up episodes are finally here in Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Return to NYC. Featuring seven action-packed adventures from the hit show along with more of the special features fans know and love, this DVD is a butt-kicking fun time for all.

Picking up right where the last DVD left off, our turtle buddies are still at April’s farm planning a comeback to return to New York and find their lost master Splinter. Starting off with “Vision Quest”, Leo takes the turtles ninja training to a whole new level in the woods where the brothers learn to overcome their weaknesses and fears in order to be the best ninja they can. Once they accomplish that, then it’s time for them to go home in “Return to New York”, though sadly they return to find the city is overrun with Kraang and criminals they’ll have to put the beatdown on.

There’s more cool adventures on here, but the ones that stick out to me are “The Pig and the Rhino” that introduces fan favorite bad guys Bebop and Rocksteady to the new series. “Battle for New York Part 1 and 2” also takes the action to new heights when the turtles meet Slash’s ‘Mighty Mutanimals’ team who fight crime and anything else in their way. The other two episodes on here are neat too, but the ones I brought up are sure to have viewers on the edge of their seats, as they’re some of the best entries yet in the series.

Everything looks great on this DVD (still hoping for a Blu-ray release of complete seasons though) as the visuals and sounds are top notch for the medium. As far as extras go, as with the previous releases there are more “Mutation of a Scene” extras for all the episodes here. These go into how some of the scenes in the episodes came together, from the drawing board to the finished scene. It would be cool to have some other, various extras, but these are always fun to check out.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Return to NYC DVD is another solid entry for any TMNT fan’s collection. Seven episodes featuring some of the best stuff that show has to offer, along with some pretty cool extra features make this a fun time that anybody and everybody is sure to get their ninja kicks from.
