Not too long ago, I just reviewed the OVA of Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? that was short but fun, and now we have yet another entry that gives viewers a new perspective in Sword Oratoria: Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side. Taking place at the exact same time the original series does but shown from Ais and Lefiya’s point of view, this is a fun set to pick up for fans of the show and newcomers alike.

Featuring twelve episodes on two discs, this story runs parallel to Bell’s from the original series but focuses on his crush and mentor, Ais Wallenstein, and taking place a little bit prior to the two first meeting while ending where the main show finishes. Here we get to see some of the tougher missions and adventures Ais and her cute companion Lefiya go on. It’s a good thing Lefiya is an up and coming mage, because her spells and Ais’ melee skills will be put to the test as they fight their way past foes while also coming across an enemy from Ais’ past that’s looking to do all sorts of evil.

For fans (and newcomers especially) of the anime, I don’t want to say too much as to leave some of the nice surprises that are in store as you watch. I have to say I enjoyed my time with this one as with the previous entries in the series as the characters are interesting and likeable which pull you into the show and keep you there until the end credits. With this being a Blu-ray set, everything looks and sounds great, and there’s the usual suspects when it comes to extras like clean opening and closing animations along with some original Japanese promotional videos that are short but fun.

Picking up Sword Oratoria: Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side is a must if you’re already invested into the previous entries. There’s plenty of fun and adventure to be had with Ais and Lefiya here, along with the other cool characters they come across. So is it wrong to pick up girls on the side in some dungeons? You’ll have to team up with these lovely ladies and find out for yourself.
