Nick Jr. has been on a roll this year with their DVD releases, as they’re gearing up for kids going back to school. To help ease them into it, the famous children’s programming company has released a collection with some of their popular shows featuring man’s best friend in the Nickelodeon Favorites: Puppy Palooza DVD. Featuring over two hours of puppy packed fun, this DVD will entertain kids and their families alike.

Who doesn’t love cute, adorable puppies? I’m sure that’s the question Nick Jr. ran with as they made this awesome collection of puppy-themed adventures from the Nick Jr. universe. Some of the episodes featured are PAW Patrol’s “Pups Save A Super Pup/Pups Save Ryder’s Robot” where Rubble is going around town pretending to be a superhero pup and helping those in trouble. But what happens when Rubble the super pup needs help? Then Ryder’s Robot pup malfunctions and goes wild around town, and it’s up to the PAW Patrol squad to track it down and stop it.

Dora The Explorer’s “Puppies Galore” has Dora, Boots, and Benny taking on a stroller full of puppies as they go off to save their puppy friend, Little Boots who is about to wake up a sleeping bear. One of Nick Jr.’s newest shows, the live-action Mutt & Stuff, has a half-hour episode on here. In this adventure, Calvin’s dad (Cesar Millan, star of the popular The Dog Whisperer show) has his son taking over Mutt & Stuff, which is the only school on the planet where dogs learn and play together. There’s also some puppy fun here for other shows such as Blue’s Clues, Team Umizoomi, and Bubble Guppies.

As with most of the Nick Jr. releases, this collection turned out to be pretty fun to watch (especially while viewing it with some of my younger cousins who light up when their favorite parts come on). The company always seem to know what episodes to place on their collections and how to make them turn out well. For a DVD, everything looks and sounds great, as the colors, details and sound come in clear. While there’s a lack of special features or extras, the two hours of puppy fun here should be more than enough to keep kids busy.

Nickelodeon Favorites: Puppy Palooza is a nice collection of puppy-filled episodes of Nick Jr. shows that will keep kids and their families laughing and learning. It may lack any bonus features, but with a run time going a little over two hours, families will want to bark up this DVD’s tree for their kids who are sure to wag their tails in delight.
