Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory: Complete Collection

Most times when you’ve seen one harem anime series, you’ve pretty much seen them all. Every so often one will come along and switch things up just enough to make it worth watching. The latest to do this is Sentai’s Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory: Complete Collection. If you’re looking for some lovely anime ladies with weird quirks that are kept in line by a (very) young guy, you’ll want to carefully make your way through this dormitory.

It seems like Koushi Nagumo, a young teenager, just can’t catch a break. His father leaves him and his house catches on fire, making him homeless. With no other family to rely on, he ends up on the street with nothing to his name.

Thankfully a kind woman named Mineru just so happens to see him and takes him into her college dormitory to get him cleaned up, fed and dressed. She even offers him a job to be the “dorm mother” there in exchange for room and board. This sounds too good to be true, and of course it is as he soon learns the ladies all have messed up quirks that keep them from being in a normal dormitory.

Anything from one of them making people dress up in cosplay against their will, to another conducting science experiments in her room with explosive results, to all of them constantly parading around with little to no clothes on, Koushi sees he’s got a lot of work to do to keep these ladies in check from placing others in danger as well as themselves.

Naturally with this being a harem anime (and uncensored at that), there’s always some sexy antics around every corner as all of the ladies take a liking to their young “dorm mother” and try to seduce him at every turn. Thankfully Koushi doesn’t succumb to their charms, but it doesn’t make him immune to typical harem “accidents” such as falling into cleavage, panties and the like.

It was fun watching how this series turned out as it reminded me a lot of the classic Tenchi Muyo where the guy genuinely cares about the ladies he’s surrounded by with them actually caring for him too underneath their lewd antics. What really tripped me out is how young Koushi is (12-13) compared to the 18+ year-old ladies and the kinky situations he ends up in. But hey, it’s anime and we just all go along with it, right?

The show looks and sounds great on Blu-ray, and I like how each episode is broken into little, mini episodes that seem to make the show go by fast. At least when you’re done you can check out the special features consisting of clean opening and closing animations along with some original Japanese promotional videos for the series.

Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory: Complete Collection tries to switch up the harem formula a bit by having a young boy keeping kinky and crazy ladies in check of their lives in and out of their college classes, and does a pretty good job with loads of silly antics thrown in. If this sounds like a weird but good time for you, then proceed with caution into this twisted dormitory.
