While it’s sad that Disney’s Tomorrowland film didn’t fare so well at the box office, at least they have a spin-off children’s show that makes up for it titled Miles From Tomorrowland. Ten episodes from this new hit show have been collected together to bring us the Miles From Tomorrowland: Let’s Rocket DVD, which contains two hours of galaxy-sized fun and edutainment for kids and the whole family.

If you haven’t guessed it by now, the series stars a young boy named Miles Callisto, along with his family and his best friend/pet named Merc, a robotic ostrich that can fly and do other amazing things when the time calls for it. They’re always going on some kind of adventure, thanks to them working for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority that has them fixing problems throughout space as they travel in their spaceship home, the Stellosphere. As they fix things, they usually end up learning something new or a valuable lesson along the way. Whether it’s coming together as a team to stop an out of control ship in the episode “Runaway Shuttle”, or Miles and Merc stopping someone from stealing their ship in “Who Stole The Stellosphere?”, there’s always something exciting going on that will keep children and their families watching and learning.

This show is one of the better entries in children’s shows that I have seen, and I’m glad to see that there are more of them being released like this. These are the kind of programs that are fun and educational without treating kids or any viewer like they’re braindead. For this to be released on DVD, the picture and sound quality is pretty top notch. The colors, details and animation come through without a hitch as the music and sounds do too. Sadly there aren’t any special features, but there is a pretty sweet bonus that comes with the DVD, a cool looking keychain flashlight that’s shaped like Miles’ blastboard that anyone will find useful and get a kick out of.

The Miles From Tomorrowland: Let’s Rocket DVD contains ten episodes running for two hours of edutainment goodness that is sure to please kids and any of the family who watch it with them. Throw in a pretty sweet keychain flashlight, and you have a winning combination that’s galaxy-sized fun for all.
