Anyone who knows me (or reads my reviews) can tell you how much I love the Kung Fu Panda franchise. With the release of Kung Fu Panda 3 coming next week, it only made sense to rekindle the fiery furious flame of the first two movies to serve as a primer for it. So to go along with the first re-release, here’s the two-disc collection of Kung Fu Panda 2: Ultimate Edition of Awesomeness, that features the film on one DVD with some butt kicking special features on another that families are sure to enjoy again and again.

I won’t get into reviewing the plot and such, as most people have seen or at least know about this franchise. For those who haven’t, you’re in luck as we just so happen to have a full review of it HERE for you to enjoy. What I will focus on is the bonus disc full of awesome goodies that really sets this collection apart from the previous releases. As with the first re-release, there’s a bonus disc with the three animated shorts, The Secret of the Scroll, Secrets of the Masters, and Secrets of the Furious Five. There’s also a music video, mash-ups and the holy grail of the extras, a sneak peek of Kung Fu Panda 3. But to switch things up on this bonuses, it also has other special features like “Kickin it with the Cast” who discuss how it was working on the film, and some fun deleted scenes that could’ve easily kicked their way into the final release.

As with the first film, Kung Fu Panda 2: Ultimate Edition of Awesomeness is still one of the best things you can pick up out there. It’s an awesome sequel that builds on the momentum set by the first movie to bring viewers one of the best animated movies ever made, while featuring some pretty sweet special features to boot. If your family is looking for a comedic, kung fu partner to spar some laughs with, you’ll want to grab your noodle cart and head to your local market to pick this one up.
