It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a decade since we last saw Matt Damon in one of his greatest and most iconic roles. Fans will be happy to know that he’s finally back and kicking butt once again in the simply titled Jason Bourne. Directed by Paul Greengrass who helmed the last two entries of the franchise, it’s a great return to the spy action flicks people have come to love, and will hopefully kick off yet another trilogy of Bourne films.
Fellow editor Carlos Menjivar has all of the plot details and more in his review of the theatrical release of the movie, so I can jump right into my take on it and the special features on this 4K UHD release. Like Carlos, I had a good time watching this one and felt good seeing Greengrass and Damon paired up again after so long. The action is well done as are the characters that pull you into the thick of things just enough for an adventure filled ride to do to keep you there. Topping all of this off is watching this in 4K UHD which really brings the movie theater experience home with it’s beyond clear visuals and bass-filled sound. If you have a nice setup and want to show it off to your friends, this is a 4K UHD Blu-ray you’ll want to use.
Once the adventure winds down, there’s a few special features you’ll want to pull out of their dossiers. “Bringing Back Bourne” is a nice behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie that features Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, and Tommy Lee Jones along with director Paul Greengrass and other crew members “Bourne to Fight” goes into the making of some of the awesome fight scenes featured throughout the movie, “The Athens Escape” takes viewers behind the filming and design of the high speed chase through the streets of Athens, and “Las Vegas Showdown” goes into filming the action packed finale that took place Las Vegas, Nevada.
Those who were leery about diving back into the Bourne franchise can rest assured it’s safe to return with Jason Bourne. Well done action scenes and fun to watch characters make this an adventure you don’t want to miss out on, especially in stunning 4K UHD that will make you want to jump into the spy game all over again.
