From anime classics such as Ranma and Tenchi Muyo, I’ve seen my fair share of perverted humor that still manages to be funny thanks to a lot of misunderstanding thrown in the mix. That’s exactly what’s going on in Sentai’s release of Ane Log: Complete Collection, which has a brother and sister getting into one wacky misunderstanding after another that comedy fans will enjoy.
The plot starts off with a brother and sister named Moyako and Akira when they were little kids. Like most siblings, they played and did everything together while having fun and enjoying having each other around. So much so, Akira promises one day he’ll marry Moyako, but of course he’s just saying it out of pure child innocence and not understanding what marriage really is.
Moyako on the other hand is looking for him to make good on that promise. Fast forward to where they’re in high school and she still thinks on that promise made long ago. Even though she knows they’re siblings, she can’t stand to see him with any other ladies. She becomes so obsessed with Akira, that every little thing he does which could look or sound perverted when taken out of context, makes her think that he’s flirting with her and prompts her to do perverted things back at him which disturbs him and those around them.
So whether it’s Akira accidentally spilling coffee in his lap and Moyako thinking he did it on purpose so she’d have to clean his crotch area, or Moyako going as far as trying to get him to drink some bath water she bathed in, she’s always thinking about or doing something extremely wacky which makes her out to be the pervert. But could there be some small truth to Akira’s actions that’s causing her to go bonkers?
You’ll have to check out these three crazy OVA episodes and find out, but trust me when I say there’s plenty of fun to be had in them. I always had a blast and loads of laughs seeing what zany situation the two would get into and how Moyako would exaggerate it into insane thoughts and actions.
The show looks and sounds good on Blu-ray, which is always good for a show that relies on both visual and audio gags for its laughs. The only special feature is a clean closing animation for the credits, but the the episodes are where the real treat is. If you’re looking for some quick, perverted humor, look no further than Ane Log: Complete Collection to get your fix. Running just over an hour, the humor is fast, funny, and out of control that’s perfect for those mature enough to attempt to handle it.
