It looks like the good folks at Zen Studios are on a roll with their latest Zen Pinball 2 tables. From The Walking Dead to double table action of South Park, the hits just keep coming. Now they’re heading back to the Marvel universe to give everyone’s favorite Spider-Man villain his own table in Zen Pinball 2: Venom, which brings plenty of pinball fun and challenges for those who can rise to them.
Most of Zen Studios’ tables are forgiving so mostly anyone can just pick up and play without having to worry about hitting the ball with precision, losing balls to the gutters and such. But thanks to a cramped lower play area and narrow ramps that require a bit of skill to reach, only those who focus their shots or hardcore pinball players will get the most from this table. If that wasn’t enough, the upper field is more open but tends to make the ball move a bit fast in that area, calling for quick reflexes to rack up some serious points and bonuses you can get while the ball is there.
As with all of Zen’s creations, there’s plenty of awesome lights, bumpers, sounds and animations that will have you smiling as you rack up points and score big. Details like hearing Spider-Man and Venom trash talk each other is always entertaining, and the animation on both of them along with Carnage (yup he’s along for the ride too) clawing at the glass prison window just in front of the flippers is spot on. Speaking of him, players who are able to hit the bell tower ramp enough times will trigger a separate table featuring him that provides an even greater challenge than the main one. Adding to the fun of this is having Venom and Spidey putting aside their differences and working together to put Carnage back in his prison again, leading back to the main play area.
Zen Studios once again proves themselves champsions of the pinball world in Zen Pinball 2: Venom. Fun sounds, voices and animations help keep things lively as players make their way through this Marvel-inspired table featuring our favorite web-slinger and his famous foe. While the challenge level is a bit higher than some of their previous fare, hardcore players and pinball fans willing to brave the challenges will find themselves engrossed in one of Zen’s best creations yet.
