Bubbles are a surprisingly essential part of human life. Just ask all those teens who were eating Tide pods back in the day. Were these geniuses following a goofy trend or embracing the bubble lifestyle? I’m going to go with the latter, at least temporarily, since said lifestyle didn’t tend to last too long depending on how many pods they ate. It should go without saying, but don’t consume dangerous cleaning products.
It might be a little safer to bubble your way through Puzzle Bobble Everybubble!, the latest entry in the bubble-bursting franchise from Taito.
via YouTubeAs is typical for the series, we follow the heroic bubble dragons – Bub, Bob, Peb and Pab – as they engage in soapy nonsense. This time, the little Miniroons have been coating the land with bubbles after a potion-related mishap and it’s up to our pals to pop the land back to normal. Shakespeare it ain’t, but we didn’t come for a soliloquy, we came for more bubbles than a crypto exchange and by Bub this game delivers.
The basics of how you’ll deal with the bubble situation are also familiar. You’ve got a little bubble-flinging device at the bottom of the screen loaded with a colored bubble. By firing it such that it connects with other identically-colored bubbles, the whole array will pop, and that in turn might lead to gravity doing its thing and causing any bubbles hanging beneath them to fall harmlessly off the screen.
Missing is counterproductive, however, as unmatched bubbles that you fire will stick around and add to the pile. Given that said pile is typically pushing its way down the screen toward your doom, you could very well end yourself with one wrong move. The key is to quickly recognize matches and determine the proper angle for your shots.
There’s plenty of opportunities to put those skills to work in Everybubble, from an extensive set of puzzles to a sort of survival challenge where bubbles continue appearing indefinitely. You’ll pop bubbles, battle Space Invaders, figure out advanced demolitions thanks to explosives that appear in the bubble parade and more. You can even bring in some friends to help out.
Between the sheer amount of content and a consistent look and feel that bring back the classic Puzzle Bobble experience, Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! is a solid choice for fans of Taito’s long-running puzzle busting franchise. It’s an adorable, accessible game that’s got plenty to offer and the dragons are as lovable as ever. Just try to go easy on the Tide pods in your spare time; even if you win, you still lose.
