Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Episode Two

Telltale gives us another great episode that focuses on what keeps this dysfunctional family together.

After the action-packed fun that was the first episode, Telltale Games takes a more touchy-feely tone in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Episode Two that’s appropriately titled “Under Pressure”. This adventure has Peter doing his best to keep his dysfunctional family of friends together, starting with helping Rocket on a personal mission of his that’s easily one of Telltale’s most emotional rides yet.

Taking place exactly where the first episode leaves off, Peter and the gang learn there’s more to the Eternity Forge than meets the eye. This leads Rocket to ask Peter for help on a personal mission of his, to go back to the laboratory where Rocket was experimented on and find an old friend of his. This friend actually turns out to be a spunky female otter that was also experimented on along with Rocket in his past. This in turn triggers an emotional roller coaster ride of a flashback that Rocket has that brings him and Peter closer together. Once that’s done, it’s back to business as usual as good guys and bad are after the Guardians, and they need a place to hideout. So what better place to duck in at than Yondu’s place?

As with the previous episode, I had a great time working my way through this one. I was surprised at how emotional this one got, as it even had me going at parts (there’s a moment where Rocket is just bawling his eyes out that’s very uncharacteristic, but is welcomed and touching nonetheless). If that wasn’t enough feels for you, there’s also Drax feeling worthless to the family that you’ll have to help Peter deal with, and also the fated reunion between Gamora and her sister that’s another adventure in itself. Whatever’s going on, you’ll have a blast dealing with the many problems and decisions that come your way between quick-time events and small exploration segments.

If you love the Telltale games like I do or enjoyed the first episode, then snagging Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series Episode Two is a no-brainer. One of the best comic book groups in recent memory brings the action, laughs, and tears like none other that’ll have you eager for the next episode, “More than a Feeling”, to come along.
