The first official trailer for the upcoming X-Files rebirth is finally online, and the truth is certainly anyone's guess.

You better believe it, too!

I want to believe - I REALLY want to believe.  Hopefully come this July, I'll be believing all over the place when the long-awaited X-Files theatrical release invades my local theater.  After an excruciating ten years, the second chapter in what could very well be a long-lasting film franchise (ala Star Trek) will prove if there's life yet in Chris Carter's seminal science-fiction sexy drama of everyone's favorite FBI pair Mulder and Scully.

Keeping in tone with the various reports, fake screenshots, and gobs of misinformation, the first publicly released trailer for said sequel is chock-full of...practically nothing.  Don't take that to mean its just a logo over spooky music, but thanks to some ingenious cutting and editing work, almost nothing is revealed or spoiled during its entire run-time.  I applaud this, as today's most popular trailers have become mini-movies unto themselves, splicing together the best and most relevant (and typically action-packed) bits and pieces into one spoiler-filled spot after the next.  The X-Files series has never lent itself very well to action, and heavy drama usually equals a better experience.  That said, I'm thrilled we get to say meet these characters all over again, and you can bet your alien babies I'll be there on Day 01.

Enjoy the trailer...because when that familiar tone starts chiming, it's all good!

Not bad for a spoiler-free bag of chips, wouldn't you say?  Let the guesswork begin, although I wouldn't be surprised if our furry friend Bigfoot makes a surprise appearance...because stranger things have (and probably will) happen.  Big thanks to IGN.com for hosting the trailer, and in case streaming video isn't your bag, you'll find a plethora of other formats for your viewing pleasure right HERE!

X-Files: I Want To Believe
mystifies theaters everywhere this July 25th.

Based on a premise that only gets progressively less likely the further it goes until it reaches an ending that might as well have been written for a fantasy novel.
