Warner Bros releases eight new character posters from the upcoming animated owl epic Legend of the Guardians. Collect them here!

Written by Evan Nathans (editor-at-large)

Who you looking at?

Legend of the Guardians is the next film from director Zack Snyder (300, The Watchmen) and stars a relatively low-key collection of actors, including Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean), and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), with animation handled by the appropriately-named visual production company Animal Logic (who also handled George Miller's 2006 penguin opus, Happy Feet).  As with many of today's finest cinematic fantasies (at least those in the wake of all things Harry Potter), Legend of the Guardians is based on a trilogy of books, the first being the 2003 release Guardians of Ga'Hoole Book 1: The Capture by Kathryn Lasky.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the source material, the film is an animated fantasy epic starring anthropomorphic owls and follows the adventures of Soren (Sturgess), a young owl who loves hearing tales of the mysterious Guardians of Ga'Hoole, an ancient band of heroic warriors who defended his kind from a wicked race of evil Pure Ones.  In a narrative that blends Harry Potter with the classic Redwall series, what follows looks to be an interesting mix of classic fantasy action, only with animated owls standing in for the regular dungeons and dragons-style archetypes.

Enjoy the collection of new character posters from Warner Bros, and get ready for massive animated owl action when Legend of the Guardians opens everywhere September 24th!
