Swatting away nerds, geeks, and other undesirables while defending social stereotypes has never been this much fun.

Hottie Hookups may be the most crass, politically incorrect take on the tower defense genre I've ever seen. But it's also more creative than you might think, and much more addictive than it looks. Bright, colorful graphics make it easy to dispatch nerds, geeks, and other social misfits, ensuring that only the most beautiful people will find true love and happiness with each other...just as in real life. It may be a shameless rip on social stereotypes, but it's complete lack of shame about it feels incredibly refreshing. Definitely give this one a spin if you've got a few minutes to spare, and don't mind contributing to the downfall of society.

Imagine taking every stereotype you can think of, including the most awkward moments from high school, the dating scene, and the customary social ranking system, and squeezing them into one game that turns convention on its head.  Bigstack Studios, creators of the best-selling Sally Studios, are back with their most hilarious and biting game of social satire yet with Hottie Hookups for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  In this world you'll have to defend the hotties from the unwanted advances of nerds hoping to get lucky on the dance floor, guaranteeing the survival of only the most beautiful couples.  Think of the movie Revenge of the Nerds, only in reverse.

There are five levels per stage, and each has two degrees of achievement: completion and expert (high enough score).  To do this you'll have to draw lines between similar-colored hotties (of the male/female type), playing matchmaker and then guiding a successful couple to similar-colored taxis at the bottom of the screen.  Mixed-matches couples can still find love, but you'll want the 'perfect' match for the biggest high-score possible.  The more nerds you flick away from all the beautiful people, the higher your score will be, too, and it can become quite challenging keeping track of so much activity on the screen at one time.  Meet every stage's increasingly difficult objectives will probably challenge even the quickest fingers, although it helps that the touchscreen recognition is fairly accurate.

The game's byline says you'll have to defend your hotties from an onslaught of nerds, and that's exactly what Hottie Hookups is all about.  Each nerd in the game has both an ability and degree of irritation they give off.  The most common is the regular nerd, who simply walks onto the dance floor in his hopeless quest to score a few hotties; no worries, as a simple swipe of your finger sends them flying away.

Then there's Rolanda, a hefty gal that shakes things up - literally.  But simply tilt your iPhone to the side and watch her roll away.  Not exactly politically correct, sure, but it's still hilarious.  Be on the watch for other characters, including the mountain lion (cougar), the furries, and even the Giga Nerd who will all do their best to irritate, drive, or steal your hotties away.  Keep your eyes peeled for Doctor Dork and the rest, because they won't go without a fight.

This game looks surprisingly good, with detailed artwork and even a few splashes of 3D renders thrown into the mix.  The eclectic mix of nerds, geeks, and multi-colored hotties look great on the smaller screen, and the sound quality is equally sharp and playful.  While the game does support online leaderboards (via OpenFeint) and in-game trophies, there isn't much left when you've run through all the levels.  This isn't unusual for low-priced games, so just make sure you know what you're getting into.
