Smart design and colorful visuals help Pocket God live up to its name, putting god-like power in the palm of your hands!

Besides some intuitive touch controls and the sheer hilarity of deciding the somewhat absurd fate of some loyal islanders there isn’t a whole to say about Pocket God aside from the fact that it does provide some level of immediate fun. Many will be hard-pressed to actually consider this title a 'game' in the purest sense, but that’s hardly an issue when you're having this much fun. With its fantastic artwork, a growing online community of dedicated fans, and new features being added all the time, Pocket God is quite the bargain and a great contender for killing some time...and maybe a few Pygmies.

After toying with it for a while, I’ll admit that my fondness for the iPhone/iPod
Touch has grown with each noteworthy game and application. But what about
playing the Almighty; is that possible with this tiny titan? Through humble beginnings
and quite a bit of controversy it appears that Pocket God has easily become one of my
favorite apps for the increasingly viable Apple handheld platform, even if only to
satisfy that
universal desire to become an omnipotent deity just because you can.
The objective is to merely take control and have your way with an unlimited
number of insignificant tribesmen known as Oogs. While doing so, you can be as
benevolent or sadistic of a god as you choose. You’ll start out simple enough,
with just you and the Oogs ready at your disposal. You can flick them like ants,
throw them into the volcano, send them whirling about in a hurricane of your
creation, or feed them to the Tyrannosaurus Rex just because you can.
Experimenting with various features such as controlling the weather and time of
day also yield some interesting results, such as vampires and freak rain storms.
If you’re feeling generous, you can help feed the Oogs and make them dance for
their favorite god, only to merrily feed one of them to the sharks.
Updates have added considerably since its original release, adding new levels,
characters, powers, and even options to interact with thousands of other (really
dedicated) Pocket God fans. It might be
a bit of a one-trick pony, but you’d be surprised how entertaining it can all
be, especially if you’ve at least two minutes worth of free time on your hands.
