The directer of Oldboy, Park Chan-wook, returns with his unique take on the vampire genre with Thirst.

Written by Chris Mitchell (associate editor)

I remember when I first saw Oldboy, a little known South Korean film by director / writer Park Chan-wook that told a story about an average guy getting revenge on people who set him up to go to jail, and miss out on his daughter's life growing up.   Now he's back with his  interesting take on the vampire genre, appropriately titled Thirst.

The film follows a priest (Song Kang-ho from The Host) that's tired of all the suffering and pain of the world.  He volunteers for an experimental vaccine that will suppossedly cure a deadly virus in hopes that he can save at least one life in this world.  The vaccine backfires and causes him to live off blood, turning him into a vampire of sorts.  He tries his best to deal with it, all while falling in love with his best friend's wife.  Who hasn't been there?

So yeah, you can see that this will be a film to keep a lookout for on July 31, 2009 when Thirst is released in selected theaters for it's limited run.   Hopefully it will also be released on video by the end of year, and click on the first theatrical poster for a bigger bite of the first poster!
